Learning Support Assistant
Location: Newcastle College
Contract: Full-time / Part-time (flexible)
Salary: Competitive, dependent on experience and qualifications
The Supply Register is inviting expressions of interest from dedicated and enthusiastic Learning Support Assistants to support learners in Further Education settings in Newcastle. We partner with local colleges and training providers to help them find the right permanent and long-term support staff to make a real difference in the lives of learners.
About the Role:
As a Learning Support Assistant, you will:
Provide one-to-one and small group support to students, including those with Special Educational Needs (SEN)
Assist in the delivery of high-quality teaching and learning, tailored to meet individual needs
Promote learner independence, confidence, and engagement in the classroom
Support learners with a range of additional needs, including autism, dyslexia, ADHD, and social/emotional needs
Work collaboratively with teaching staff and other support professionals to create an inclusive learning environment
Provide positive encouragement and help learners overcome barriers to learning
Essential Requirements:
Experience working with learners with SEN or additional learning needs
A patient, caring, and flexible approach
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to build positive relationships and motivate learners
A genuine commitment to supporting young people and adults from diverse backgrounds
Desirable:
Relevant qualification in learning support, SEN, or a related field
Previous experience in a further education or post-16 setting
Understanding of strategies to support learners with a range of additional needs
