We are seeking a Senior Staff Nurse (Band 6) to join our expert Cancer Nursing Team at The Wellington Hospital, part of HCA Healthcare UK. If you are a Band 5 Staff Nurse with a minimum of 3 years’ experience in oncology nursing and are an approved chemotherapy giver who has been independently administering chemotherapy for at least 6 months, we welcome your application and encourage you to take the next step in your oncology career.
Our hospital is rated “Good” by the CQC and proudly holds the Macmillan Quality Environment Mark Award, reflecting our commitment to exceptional cancer care. Our purpose-built Medical Oncology Unit includes 17 oncology beds and 2 neuroendocrine suites, providing bespoke, patient-centred care. You’ll be part of a dedicated, skilled and supportive team delivering high standards of specialist oncology care. Working in a highly nurse-led environment, you’ll benefit from greater autonomy in patient assessments and treatment planning, with a typical nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:4, enabling truly individualised care. This role offers the opportunity to be at the forefront of modern cancer care, delivering cutting-edge treatments often not available on the NHS. You’ll also have access to clear career progression pathways into leadership roles such as Sister or Matron, along with fully funded education and development opportunities.
What You’ll Bring
* Current NMC Nurse registration
* Ideally a Band 6 Senior Staff Nurse, OR
* A Band 5 Nurse with:
o Minimum 3 years’ post-registration oncology nursing experience
o Experience as an approved chemotherapy giver (SACT)
o At least 6 months of independently consolidated chemotherapy administration
* Strong knowledge of systemic anti-cancer treatments (chemotherapy, immunotherapy, radiotherapy, etc.) and their side effects
