Apprenticeship Level 6 - Electrical Engineering
As an Electrical Building Services Engineer you'll work within a team of engineers to design all aspects of building services systems. Sustainability underpins everything we do at Arup and therefore your focus will be on delivering efficient, low energy and low carbon designs. You'll work with renewable and emerging technologies and enjoy the chance to work on projects in a wide range of sectors including education, healthcare, aviation, commercial, and data centres. At Arup, you will take advantage of Building Information Modelling (BIM) technology. BIM enables us to design buildings collaboratively using 3D computer models. Whether you are designing a net zero carbon school/college, or the next super hospital, you will be working within multidisciplinary teams to optimise the competing requirements of a design and shape the buildings of the future. We are constantly looking to develop the way we work, advances in software, computer modelling and virtual reality are rapidly changing the building design process. You'll support a variety of different work, including:Production of engineering drawings and sketches, including 3D or 2D computer drawingsProduction of Building Information Models (BIM)Undertaking virtual design reviewsPreparation of simple engineering calculationsContributing to solutions for design challengesTaking part in design meetings, site visits, presentations and workshopsHelping with the administration of projects.Electrical Building Services Engineers apply their specialist skills and expertise to provide safe electrical distribution in buildings. Driving the design of the electrical building systems across a range of project scales and building types, with a focus on developing, encouraging and recommending sustainable building design solutions on projects, pushing the boundaries for design.
