Overview
An exciting opportunity has arisen in our Ophthalmology theatres. We are looking to recruit 3 Band 3 Senior Theatre Support Workers to join our friendly team, based on the Royal Liverpool Hospital site.
Key Responsibilities
* Assist the theatre team in the planning, assessment, implementation and evaluation of patient care.
* Assist in the smooth running of theatre lists, sending for patients as required and escorting patients to theatre and post‑op to the Theatre Admissions Unit with appropriate handovers.
* Monitor patients’ condition and seek advice where there is concern.
* Assist the theatre team in meeting service and performance targets and the effective use of theatre resources.
* Internal rotation through theatres, anaesthetic, scrub and recovery to allow personal development.
* After competency assessment, undertake appropriate clinical procedures in all areas of care delivery.
* Undertake pre‑operative catheterisation of female patients.
* Act as scrub person for minor surgery, endoscopic procedures and some arthroscopic procedures.
* Take responsibility for ordering and maintenance of stock levels, specialist items and resources in the unit.
* Undertake the checking‑in procedure when receiving patients from the ward into the Anaesthetic Room.
* Participate in the peri‑operative care team.
* Assist in the cleaning and maintenance of the clinical environment and theatre equipment.
* Organise the required equipment and medical staff needed for the list.
* Take responsibility for the decontamination and disinfection of scopes and specialist probes.
* Undertake clinical procedures including bronchoscopy, flexible cystoscopes, TRUBS and ECT.
* Discharge patients to the ward or Recovery Area.
