Product Engineer (TypeScript) | London | £110,000 | 4 days a week · Old Street
We're partnering with a Series A-stage software company building tools that help charities and non-profits run more effectively, think operations, compliance, and programme management for organisations that have historically been underserved by decent software.
The engineering team is small by design. Everyone ships. Everyone thinks about the product. And the work genuinely matters to the people using it.
They're now hiring a Product Engineer to take on real ownership across the stack, someone who wants to be close to the product, close to the users, and trusted to make good decisions without layers of process getting in the way.
What you'll be doing
* Building and shipping features end-to-end, owning them from design through to production
* Writing high-quality TypeScript across frontend (React) and backend (Node.js)
* Working directly with product and leadership to turn messy real-world problems into clean, simple solutions
* Taking initiative on architecture, performance, and reliability as the product scales
* Helping to raise the bar on engineering practice: testing, code reviews, documentation, technical direction
What they're looking for
* Strong commercial TypeScript / JavaScript experience, you've shipped real products, not just prototypes
* Comfortable across the full stack; React and Node experience preferred
* Genuinely product-minded, you think about outcomes and user experience, not just whether the code compiles
* High standards: clean code, good judgment, and a low tolerance for shortcuts that create problems later
* Someone who does their best work with autonomy and accountability, not hand-holding and tickets
Why this one's worth a look
* You'll have a real say in what gets built and how - this isn't a feature factory
* The mission is tangible: the software you write helps charities deliver more impact
* Modern TypeScript stack with the freedom to influence technical direction from early on
* Small, experienced team - low politics, high trust, no death by committee
* Four-day week, Old Street office, £110k
The process
Typically a short intro call, a technical conversation, and a final with the founders, no take-home tasks.
If you're a TypeScript engineer who wants more ownership, more meaningful work, and a product you can actually be proud of, this is worth a conversation.
