We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Diabetes specialist dietitian to join our team to support the gestational diabetes service. We are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic dietitian, with excellent communication and leadership skills and the ability to work well as part of a well established MDT team. Base Location: Bournemouth Hospital Interview Date: 13th January Main duties of the job You will be a member of the UHD Dietetics Department, which consists of 25+ dietitians working across Bournemouth, Poole and Christchurch Hospitals within a variety of specialties that include Diabetes, Paediatrics and Bariatrics. Person specification Qualifications Essential criteria BSc or Post Graduate Diploma in Nutrition and Dietetics Advanced communication or behavioural skills training HCPC registration Evidence of continued professional development Desirable criteria Member of the British Dietetic Association (BDA) Clinical supervisory skills training Experience Essential criteria Post registration experience in a range of dietetic areas, including diabetes Experience of delivering training and presentations Experience of managing and supervising junior dietetic staff and student dietitians Experience of managing patients with gestational diabetes Experience of working autonomously within an MDT taking a lead dietetic role Experience in service development, audit and clinical governance issues Desirable criteria Research and publication experience Development of dietetic policies and procedures Technical Skills and Competencies Essential criteria Able to communicate complex information effectively with a range of healthcare colleagues (verbal and written) Effectively communicate a complex diagnosis with patients or carers, adapting advice to each individual as required Keep up to date with and implement evidence based practice Excellent IT and presentation skills High level of time management and organisational skills Knowledge Essential criteria Knowledge of managing complex gestational diabetes patients Personal Attributes Essential criteria Committed to personal and team development Able to motivate self and others Ability to respond positively to change Able to problem solve clinically and managerially To be able to cope with emotional and distressing circumstances Language requirement Essential criteria Able to speak and write English as necessary to undertake the role
