About The Role
Aim of the role
Reporting to the CFO, as Group Financial Controller, you will be responsible for managing the group finance team and leading the financial management, reporting, and control environment of the untypical group.
The Group Financial Controller will work closely with all regional and head office finance teams.
Responsibilities and Duties:
* Own and maintain Finance Policy, Governance, and Control, ensuring robust documentation and audit trails.
* Undertake consolidation and statutory reporting across regions and group, meeting reporting timescales and quality standards.
* Support group functions in developing overhead budgets and forecasts, and respond to monthly MI queries from senior leadership.
* Provide leadership and development to a talented team including accountants and accounts payable staff.
* Manage Travel and Expense processes, establish documented Delegations of Authority, and ensure governance.
* Maintain tax strategies (VAT, CIS, Corporation Tax) and ensure proper application in reporting.
* Manage relationships with HMRC, ensuring timely payments of taxes.
* Sign off on internal audit strategies and manage internal stakeholders, review reports, and escalate issues to the CFO.
* Support external audits and manage the annual audit calendar.
* Jointly manage Treasury and Cash Management with the Group Finance Director.
* Contribute financial and tax input to strategic investments and projects.
* Monitor external best practices and updates in accounting regulations to ensure compliance.
About You
* Fully qualified chartered accountant (ACA/ACCA/CIMA).
* Proven experience operating at a Financial Controller level.
* Experience managing external audits.
* Track record of establishing robust control environments.
* Ability to plan and prioritize workloads effectively under pressure.
* Strong leadership, interpersonal, and communication skills.
* A team player who cares about developing colleagues.
* Initiative-driven with a proactive approach to tasks and change management.
