School Social Worker / Family School Facilitator

190‑day position for the School Year 2026–2027.


Compensation

Base $50,000 (adjusted according to experience and degree). FLSA Status: Non‑Exempt.


Reports To

Assistant Superintendent for Administration and Operations.


Job Goal

Act as a liaison to bring about needed changes within individual students, their families, groups, and community systems in order to facilitate the educational process. Serve as a public‑relations ambassador of the school's positive aspects and exhibit best practices and effective strategies in school social work.


Qualifications

* Degree in Social Work or equivalent (preferred).
* South Carolina Board of Social Work Examiners license or willingness to obtain it.
* Experience in family casework (preferred).

Alternatives to the above qualifications may be considered acceptable if approved by the Board.


Performance Responsibilities

* Develop a deeper understanding of social and emotional needs of individuals by interpreting their total environment and preparing social histories.
* Conduct conferences with parents, teachers, school psychologists and administrators.
* Make home visits.
* Provide and evaluate services for family functioning issues.
* Provide copies of social histories to school psychologists, relevant contacts in schools, and keep a copy for personal files.
* Assist multidisciplinary team members in understanding psychosocial and cultural experiences of children, families, and communities.
* Mobilize families to utilize available supports such as extended family, community groups, friends, churches, public agencies and programs.
* Help students and families become familiar with services offered by the school district and community agencies, acting as a liaison for these services.
* Provide parents with information, directions, telephone numbers and instructions regarding agencies to meet their needs.
* Refer school personnel to students or vice‑versa.
* Work with consultants and offer assistance through education, awareness and intervention with families.
* Collaborate and develop resources with community agencies.
* Provide assistance in cases of child neglect and abuse, including reference to appropriate agencies, reporting, documentation and follow‑up.
* Provide information to school personnel, parents and community agencies to enhance educational progress via telephone conferences, feedback, verbal or written reports.
* Document services: maintain records for each referral, produce weekly 5–10 reports, ensure cost‑effective case management, provide goal information and service effectiveness.
* Conduct on‑going program assessment and evaluation: gather feedback from school and community or program services, undergo annual employee evaluation by the District, and keep school and community informed of progress and changes.
* Show evidence of professional growth, development and management skills, honoring the professional Code of Ethics: attend ongoing staff development meetings, state and regional meetings related to the job role, obtain continuing education hours required annually to renew license.
