Project Manager (Automation Background) Location: Runcorn, Cheshire (Hybrid – 3 days WFH)
Working Hours: Monday–Thursday 8:30am–5:00pm, Friday 8:30am–4:30pm

About the Role We’re seeking an experienced Project Manager with a strong background in industrial automation to lead the planning, execution, and delivery of complex engineering projects. You’ll act as the primary point of contact for clients, suppliers, and internal teams, ensuring projects are delivered safely, on time, within budget, and to the highest standards of quality and customer satisfaction.
Reporting to the CCT-6 Team Leader and Senior Project Manager, this role offers an excellent opportunity to work on innovative automation projects across the UK while enjoying a healthy work-life balance through hybrid working.
Key Responsibilities
Manage the safe delivery of automation projects, ensuring adherence to contracts, budgets, and schedules.
Lead project planning, implementation, and progress tracking through all stages of the lifecycle.
Communicate effectively with senior management, clients, and project teams to align on goals and expectations.
Identify risks and implement mitigation strategies to avoid delays or cost overruns.
Allocate project tasks based on skills and experience to optimise team performance.
Produce and present clear project status reports for clients and stakeholders.
Collaborate closely with Design, Engineering, Quality, H&S, and Procurement teams.
Build and maintain strong relationships with customers and partners.
Skills & Experience
Proven experience delivering industrial automation or engineering projects.
Strong working knowledge of NEC 4 contracts (Options A, C, and E preferred).
Proficient with PMBOK or PRINCE2 methodologies.
Skilled in project management software (Microsoft Project, Excel, PowerPoint, Primavera P6, FastDraft).
Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
Knowledge of CDM 2015 regulations and NGT procedures (Quality, Environmental, H&S).
Degree in a relevant field with PMP or PRINCE2 Practitioner certification advantageous.
