Vehicle Diagnostic Author

This is a permanent, full-time role based in Gaydon. Hybrid working is available.

About the Role

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Vehicle Diagnostic Author to join a collaborative and professional team supporting a leading automotive OEM. This role is ideal for individuals with experience in vehicle diagnostics and a strong understanding of automotive electronic systems who are passionate about creating clear, accurate, and effective technical documentation.

Key Responsibilities

* Support the diagnosis of complex vehicle faults using symptoms, Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs), and engineering data.
* Develop and author diagnostic workflows that guide technicians through fault-finding and repair processes.
* Create, manage, review, and publish technical diagnostic content for use by dealer networks and service technicians.
* Collaborate with engineering teams and subject matter experts to gather, validate, and interpret technical information.
* Ensure all documentation is accurate and aligned with quality standards.
* Contribute to diagnostic solution development, testing, and validation activities.
* Work effectively within a fast-paced environment while managing multiple priorities and deadlines.

Essential Skills and Experience

* Understanding of vehicle systems development, programme integration, and diagnostics processes.
* Expert in Microsoft Office packages.
* Excellent attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
* Ability to diagnose faults.
* Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with stakeholders at all levels.
* Experience producing technical documentation from a variety of information sources.
* The ability to read and interpret technical drawings and engineering documentation.
* Professional and customer-focused approach.
* Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.

Desirable Skills

* Experience in diagnostic technical authoring.
* Knowledge of Simplified Technical English (STE).
* Experience using 3D CAD or modelling software.
