Allerton Bishop is delighted to be searching for a Site Director on behalf of a global pharmaceutical manufacturer. Our client specialises in complex pharmaceutical products and is investing heavily in the future of its operations in England. The Site Director will manage the on-site leadership team and oversee a major site investment project.
Key Responsibilities
As Site Director, you will hold overall responsibility for the leadership, growth, and operational excellence of the site. This includes:
Leadership & Culture
* Provide clear, strategic leadership to the on-site leadership team (manufacturing, operations, MSAT, engineering, and quality).
* Foster a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement across all departments.
* Develop future leaders through succession planning, mentoring, and talent development initiatives.
Operational Management
* Oversee end-to-end site operations, ensuring the safe, compliant, and efficient manufacture of complex pharmaceutical products.
* Set and deliver operational KPIs covering safety, quality, service, cost, and productivity.
* Drive operational excellence by embedding Lean, Six Sigma, and performance improvement initiatives.
Major Investment Project Leadership
* Lead the planning, execution, and delivery of a significant site investment programme, expanding manufacturing and technical capabilities.
* Partner with global stakeholders to align project goals with business strategy.
* Ensure projects are delivered on time, on budget, and to regulatory and technical standards.
Compliance & Quality
* Maintain full compliance with GMP, health & safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements.
* Act as the accountable person during regulatory inspections, audits, and customer visits.
* Drive a quality-first mindset throughout all site operations.
Financial & Strategic Accountability
* Own site P&L and budget, ensuring strong financial performance while balancing long-term investment.
* Contribute to global strategic initiatives and represent the site at corporate leadership forums.
* Develop and execute a long-term site strategy that supports growth, innovation, and resilience.
Your Profile
* Degree in Engineering, Life Sciences, or Business (advanced qualifications desirable).
* Extensive leadership experience within pharmaceutical or biopharmaceutical GMP manufacturing at site level.
* Proven track record of driving operational excellence and leading site-wide transformation or investment programmes.
* Previous international assignment experience is highly desirable.
* Excellent communication, influencing, and stakeholder management skills at both site and global level.
