A local authority in the South West are seeking an experienced Private Sector Housing Officer to support a busy housing team on an interim basis.
This is a hands‑on role where you’ll be managing a varied caseload, carrying out inspections, and ensuring compliance across the private rented sector.
Key Responsibilities
* Conduct property inspections across the private rented sector
* Enforce housing legislation including HHSRS assessments
* Deal with complaints relating to disrepair, overcrowding, and poor housing conditions
* Take enforcement action where necessary (notices, improvement works, etc.)
* Work closely with landlords, tenants, and internal teams
* Support wider housing initiatives, including licensing where required
Requirements
* Previous experience within a local authority private sector housing team
* Strong knowledge of housing legislation and HHSRS
* Confident carrying out inspections and enforcement action
* Ability to manage your own caseload independently
* Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle (for site visits)
