An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Camden School Nursing service to recruit highly motivated and innovative practitioners to deliver the Healthy Child Programme.
Main duties of the job
As an integral member of the Camden School Nursing service, you will be responsible for delivering the Healthy Child Programme in collaboration with the wider school health team. We offer excellent professional development opportunities along with formal one‑to‑one supervision and annual appraisal.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
1. Work in partnership with educational staff, health care professionals and other agencies to provide advice and support to children and young people, their parents and carers as required.
2. Undertake appropriate training/up‑dates related to public health issues to contribute towards meeting local and national Department of Health targets such as immunisations, teenage pregnancy and sexual health, smoking cessation and obesity.
3. Carry out training sessions to other professionals on relevant health or medical issues and where appropriate, assist children and young people to manage their own health conditions independently.
4. Undertake agreed health assessments on children and young people and ensure referrals, treatments and reviews are carried out as recommended and in accordance with Trust policies and procedures.
5. Develop high quality packages of care for children and young people with medical needs, in partnership with other health professionals, education, parents and carers and other agencies as necessary.
6. Be responsible for identifying children and young people requiring medical follow‑up planning.

Qualifications
* RGN [NMC Registered] / RSCN Child Branch
* Specialist Practitioner Community Public Health Nurse (School Nursing or Children’s Community Nursing)
* Evidence of Continual Professional Development
* Mentorship Preparation or equivalent
* Public Health Nursing (Children & Families)
* Sexual health (or equivalent)
* School Nurse Certificate
Experience
* Experience of working with children in a professional capacity
* Working with families who have experienced trauma
* Working with diverse communities
* Evidence to support experience of audit activity
Knowledge
* Understanding of quality issues, the audit process and clinical governance
* Knowledge of children with long‑term medical needs
* Understanding of the public health role of the school nurse
