Job overview
The Chronic Pain Specialty is one of the largest in the UK providing local and National Services. The Pain Specialty has an exciting new nursing post at band 6.
This post is to work in the Pain Clinic alongside a team of experienced Consultants in Pain Medicine and part of the Multi disciplinary team (Specialist Physiotherapy and Clinical Psychology). The post holder will support the Acute Pain lead with the smooth running of the service.
Main duties of the job
* Accountable for care delivery of the pain clinic, including the supervision of staff and students
* Expected to maintain a visible presence in the pain clinic and provide a clear focus for effective clinical leadership to the nursing team
* Professionally accountable and responsible for assessing skill mix and team structures and implementing changes in working practices accordingly ensuring that care processes and systems support the delivery of high quality patient care
* Supporting the named budget holder and authorised signatory for financial resources with responsibility for managing the pain clinic resources in an effective manner
* Take an active role in the implementation of audit, quality and risk management initiatives in the pain clinic, publicising and sharing good practice with the team and colleagues
* Supporting the B7 Nurse & Lead Nurse in the effective management of nursing staffs’ contracted hours, sickness, absence and training through the e-Roster, planning and reviewing daily staffing and critically review monthly nurse staffing reports
* Able to demonstrate professional expertise and knowledge acquired through post registration academic study and clinical leadership and management development
Qualifications
* RGN Part 1, 2, BSc in Nursing
* Recognised Qualification in Teaching/Assessing
* Post registration qualification preferably in specialty area
* Non Medical Prescriber Qualification
Knowledge
* Relevant clinical experience at Band 5 or above
* Demonstrable experience of taking charge of ward/department and staff
* Experience of Band 6 Sister/CN role
* Experience of working in Chronic Pain/Pain Management
