MAC Ltd was founded in 1986 by Professor Raymond Steele, a pioneer in mobile communications, to address engineering challenges in mobile tech, from luxury items for business users to accessible smartphones. He achieved this by hand-picking, training, and mentoring exceptional electronic engineers to build a world-class team capable of solving complex problems. The current owners and leadership continue this approach today.
Our focus is on the radio interface between wireless devices, including developing modulation schemes, spectrum sharing, and testing radio communication systems. We have contributed to every generation of mobile technology, from analogue to 5G, across sectors like telecommunications, public safety, defense, and security.
Our success is rooted in a culture of diversity and inclusion, bringing together people with different backgrounds, skills, and perspectives into a supportive team. This is exemplified by our transition to an Employee-Owned Trust (EOT) in March 2025.
