The Role
We are seeking a highly competent, full-time Web Developer for a 6-month fixed term. This is a hands-on, full-stack position where you will collaborate closely with designers and project managers to deliver bespoke web solutions. Primary technologies include PHP, WordPress, and Laravel. You will contribute to technical decisions across projects, working across backend architecture, databases, and polished, responsive front-end builds. This role is mostly remote but requires some visits to the Isle of Wight HQ.
Key Responsibilities
* Develop and maintain bespoke WordPress themes and plugins.
* Build and support Laravel-based applications.
* Write clean, secure, and maintainable PHP code.
* Collaborate closely with designers to achieve pixel-accurate implementations.
* Optimise performance, security, and scalability across all projects.
* Debug, maintain, and extend existing websites and applications.
* Contribute to code reviews, technical standards, and best practices.
Essential Skills & Experience
* Strong commercial experience with PHP.
* Advanced WordPress development, including:
o Custom theme builds
o Custom plugin development
o ACF and bespoke content architectures
* Solid experience working with Laravel.
* Strong understanding of MySQL / relational databases.
* Experience with Git and modern development workflows.
* Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
* Required experience: Web development: 2 years.
* Required language: English.
* Required work authorisation: United Kingdom.
Bonus / Nice-to-Haves
* Experience with React.
* Working knowledge of Tailwind CSS.
* Shopify theme development and customisation.
* App development experience (web apps, mobile apps, or PWAs).
* Experience integrating third-party APIs.
* Agency experience or working across multiple client projects.
