Modern Languages represents a core part of Lancing College, offering French, German, Spanish, Russian and Mandarin. The department is staffed by eight full‑time teachers, one part‑time native‑speaker Mandarin teacher, and three native‑speaker assistants for German, French and Spanish.

Spanish Assistant – reporting to Head of Spanish.
Key Tasks and Responsibilities
* Lead individual conversation classes with A Level (Upper & Lower Sixth Form) pupils, supporting progression in speaking, pronunciation and cultural awareness.
* Prepare students for the A Level speaking examinations (AQA Specification), including IRP guidance, photo‑card use, vocabulary acquisition, pronunciation and thought‑organisation.
* Lead conversational classes with GCSE pupils in small groups, fostering active production and aural comprehension.
* Prepare pupils for the GCSE speaking examinations (AQA specification) through pronunciation, fluency practice and topic coverage.
* Maintain accurate attendance records for all conversation sessions.
* Prepare brief progress reports for Head of French and classroom teachers.
* Attend examination board feedback sessions on speaking exams.
Essential Skills and Experience
* Excellent communication skills.
* Previous experience as a Language Assistant.
* Knowledge of GCSE and A Level oral exams with the AQA board.
* Flexibility to schedule oral lessons outside normal timetable after school.
Desirable
* Fluent or near‑native proficiency in spoken Spanish.
