About the role
We are looking for a pharmacist registered with the GPhC to join our surgical pharmacy team for 11 months maternity leave cover. You will join our team to provide a comprehensive pharmacy service across the surgical specialties including general surgery, urology, orthopaedics, plastics and burns.
The successful candidate will be joining a supportive and friendly team to ensure that patients have Medicines Reconciliation on admission, and accurate and timely discharge medicines and information.
This role would suit pharmacists with experience in other sectors, as well as those with experience in hospital pharmacy.
Main duties
* Act as the Responsible Pharmacist in line with local procedure
* clinical and accuracy checking of prescriptions
* dispensing medicines
* dealing with medicines for clinical trial patients
* ensuring adherence to medicines legislation and accurate record keeping especially for those medicines covered by the Misuse of Drugs Act
* ensuring medicines are selected and employed in accordance with the Trust Medicines Policy and the Drugs Formulary
* supervising technicians and pre-registration pharmacists
* educating patients and/or their representatives about their medicines
* liaising with various members of the multi-disciplinary team

Essential person specification requirements
* Master’s degree in pharmacy obtained through four-year undergraduate training.
* Membership of the General Pharmaceutical Council achieved by pre-registration training/experience and examination.
* Significant experience in pharmacy practice obtained through pre-registration training and examination
