About the role
As a Visitor Experience Officer you will report to the Visitor Experience and Operations Manager and work in a dynamic team of staff and volunteers at both Dunster Castle and Coleridge Cottage. Your main focus is to provide a great service for visitors and maintain high standards of presentation onsite. You will welcome guests and inspire them to explore the museums, gardens, artworks and historical sites. You may devise and run events and activities, create interpretive displays, and encourage visitors to engage with artworks, objects, plants and landscapes.
You will also support and supervise the Welcome team and volunteers, organise rotas, update visitor numbers, replenish maps or trail leaflets, and help launch initiatives such as Summer of Play. Marketing communications – posters, banners and social media posts – will be designed to attract and retain visitors.
Qualifications
* Experience managing multiple deadlines and independent workload.
* Strong organisational and planning skills with a keen eye for detail.
* Excellent communication with people from all backgrounds.
* Committed team player, hardworking and proactive.
* Proficiency with Microsoft Office, web and social media tools.
* Experience producing interpretive or promotional materials – display design, exhibitions, marketing.
* Knowledge of health and safety procedures.
Salary and Hours
Salary: £27,612 per annum.
Contract: Permanent. Hours: Full‑time, 37.5 hours per week.
This role requires working at both Dunster Castle and Coleridge Cottage; public transport is not available.
