Assistant Editor (PhD holder) - Environmental Research and Public Health
We are seeking recent PhD graduates to strengthen our Editorial team. The Assistant Editor position is full-time and permanent, based in our city centre office in Manchester, UK.
This is an in-office role located next to Piccadilly Gardens in Manchester.
Overview
You will support editorial processes for academic journals in your domain of expertise, coordinating peer review and editorial decisions, and ensuring timely, accurate publication of scholarly articles.
Responsibilities
* Support the editorial process for academic research journals in your domain of expertise
* Organize the peer review process for submitted manuscripts and coordinate editorial decisions
* Handle email communication between authors, reviewers, editors, and production teams
* Collaborate with editorial and production teams to ensure quality and timely publication
* Ensure that scholarly articles are edited and published according to deadlines with consistency
Requirements
* A PhD degree in a field related to environmental research and public health (e.g., Psychology, Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Public Health, Epidemiology, Nutrition, etc.)
* Excellent written and spoken English skills
* Advanced knowledge of MS Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
* Team player with the ability to work in a dynamic, international environment
* Detail oriented with the ability to see the big picture
* Strong organizational and time management skills
* Good communication and coordination skills
Training and career development
Successful candidates receive full training in editorial work, working closely with Managing Editors and learning how to process research articles from submission to publication. Training is on-the-job during the first six months. Depending on your background, you will be assigned to journals related to your field of study. No previous editorial experience is required, though familiarity with the editorial process is an advantage.
