We are recruiting Trainee Teaching Assistants to support pupils in a specialist education setting in Peterlee. This role is ideal for individuals looking to start a career in education and gain hands-on experience supporting children and young people with social, emotional and behavioural needs.
No formal Teaching Assistant qualification is required — this role suits candidates with experience in care, youth work, sports coaching, or similar people-focused roles.
Key Responsibilities
* Support pupils during lessons and structured activities.
* Provide emotional and behavioural support throughout the school day.
* Assist teachers with classroom activities and routines.
* Build positive relationships with pupils to encourage engagement.
* Support pupils during transitions and unstructured times.
Skills & Experience
* A genuine interest in working with children or young people.
* Calm, patient and resilient approach.
* Willingness to learn and develop in an education setting.
* Experience with young people is desirable but not essential.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
