Role Purpose
The Early Childhood Teacher will deliver high-quality early childhood education, guided by evidence-informed, contemporary pedagogy and practice, which is aligned with the National Quality Standards, Victorian Early Years Learning and Development Framework and National Education and Care Law and Regulations. You will be responsible for leading the implementation ofhigh-quality educational program in our funded kindergarten sessions. You will build positive, respectful and collaborative relationships with families, children and colleagues, ensuring an inclusive environment where each child's learning and development needs are met, and the service's policies and regulatory standards are maintained.
Capabilities
Educational Delivery -Leads planning, delivery and implementation of integrated teaching and learning strategies, guided by the individual learning and development needs of each child. Evaluates the effectiveness of teaching practices and their impact on children's learning and development. Conducts ongoing assessment of children's progress, providing insightful feedback on their learning trajectory and achievements, and maintaining clear communication with families regarding their child's development.
Compliance and Child Safety -Ensures the centre, educational program and practices is compliant with all aspects of the Education and Care Services National Law and Regulations, National Quality Standards, Child Protection and Child Safe Standards, Approved Frameworks and all Early Learning Victoria policies and procedures.
Leadership and Mentoring- Develops and maintains meaningful relationships with staff, families, and children, fostering a supportive and collaborative centre environment. Drives service improvement by assessing strengths and areas for growth in accordance with the QIP. Supports students on placement by integrating them into the educational setting and providing guidance and mentorship. Promotes a learning culture by prioritising reflective practice and maintaining a continuous cycle of self-evaluation and improvement.

Encourages reflective practice where feedback is used constructively to improve teaching and learning experiences.

2ic & Educational leader Responsibilities include:
Knowledge, leadership & management in Compliance of: Service Policies and Procedures, ECA Code of Ethics, Code of Conduct, EYLF, Child Protection Legislation Victoria, Victorian Early Years Learning and Development Framework, the Education and Care Services National Law and Regulations, the National Quality Framework and, and Child Safe Standards.
Health & Safety: Ensure each child is protected and child’s health and physical activity is supported and promoted.
Positive Environment: Enable children’s growth, development, and engagement, ensuring a nurturing, supportive environment for all.
Leadership and Mentorship: Guide and mentor the educational team, providing support and direction in delivering quality programs while fostering a collaborative and positive workplace culture.
Communication & Relationship Building: Establish strong, open communication with staff, children, families, and the broader community to ensure holistic support and engagement in each child's learning journey.
Service Improvement: Drive continuous improvement by assessing strengths and identifying areas for growth in alignment with the Quality Improvement Plan (QIP).
Compliance & Child Safety: Ensure the centre meets all legal, regulatory, and safety standards, including adherence to child protection policies.
Support Developmental Needs: Assist in planning & implementation of activities that foster the emotional, social, and cognitive development of children under 3. Support their individual learning journeys and ensure a positive and enriching experience.
Nurturing Care: Provide loving, responsive, and age-appropriate care to children. Build secure attachments with children and support their sense of safety and well-being.
Collaborative Teamwork: Work closely with the educator team to create a stimulating environment that promotes exploration, discovery, and development for children.
Communication with Families: Build positive relationships with families and maintain clear, open communication regarding children's progress and development.
Health, Safety & Compliance: Ensure the well-being and safety of all children, adhering to centre policies, child protection standards, and regulatory requirements.
Qualifications & Experience Required:
Early Childhood Teacher: Bachelor of Teaching (Early Childhood) or equivalent qualification with Valid VIT registration
2ic & Educational leader: Diploma in Early Childhood Education and Care or higher qualification.
Early Childhood Educator: Certificate III, Diploma in Early Childhood Education and Care (or equivalent) or Bachelor of Teaching (Early Childhood) or equivalent qualification
working with children's check
Protecting Children - Mandatory Reporting online learning
Current First Aid, Anaphylaxis and Asthma qualifications
Police check less than 6months old.
Food Handling Certificate and Safe Sleep Training is desirable
Experience with Montessori highly valued
