Project NDT Technical Manager
Location: Near Bridgwater

Main Purpose
The Project NDT Technical Manager provides technical expertise, guidance, and oversight for all NDT activities on the project. This role ensures compliance with standards and regulations while fostering innovation and continuous improvement in NDT techniques and technologies. The manager acts as the site-based subject matter expert, supporting internal teams, suppliers, and external stakeholders. This is a permanent onsite position, working Monday to Friday, 40 hours per week.
Main Responsibilities
* Delivery: Accountable for safety, quality, and compliance in NDT; oversee site NDT capabilities; monitor resource requirements; act as the primary technical authority for NDT methods, procedures, and technologies; advise on technique selection and defect evaluation; support qualification and certification of NDT staff; provide technical guidance and support to personnel, including apprentices.
* Innovation: Lead NDT capability improvements; own technique qualifications and development; ensure updates to regulations/standards are implemented; promote best practices and continuous improvement.
* Advice: Identify work outside of technical competency; provide consultancy; conduct audits; guide supervision and management of NDT; liaise with customer authorities and third parties; maintain links with external NDT bodies.
Experience
Industrial experience in the energy sector, especially in new-build and fabrication projects. Expertise in conventional and advanced NDT techniques, balancing practical execution with technical knowledge.
Qualifications and Training
ISO 9712 (PCN or equivalent) Level 2 & 3 in at least three NDT techniques, including one sub-surface method (RT and/or UT). RT Level 2/3 or interpretation qualifications required if Level 3 is not held. Familiarity with BS EN ISO/IEC 17020 standards. For further discussion, contact the recruitment team at 01224 246246.
