Ready to take the next step into engineering leadership? This is a brilliant opportunity for an experienced hands‑on Engineer or Engineering Supervisor who’s looking for their first management role within a supportive, values‑driven aquaculture business.
Based on a small site in Uist, you’ll oversee day‑to‑day maintenance, support a team sized at 1.5 FTE, and keep essential equipment running safely and efficiently. It’s a varied, practical role with real ownership - without the complexity or pressure of a large‑scale engineering environment.
What you’ll be doing
* Carrying out and planning maintenance across site equipment, vehicles, vessels and lifting systems
* Ensuring safe, compliant operations in line with company, MCA and Health & Safety standards
* Supporting and developing a small engineering team, including training, planning and out‑of‑hours cover
* Managing maintenance records, reporting and procurement for essential parts and equipment
* Working closely with production, biology and environmental teams to keep operations running smoothly
* Upholding environmental, fish‑welfare and hygiene standards across all engineering activity
This is a hands‑on role where you’ll be involved in the work as much as leading it — ideal for someone who enjoys variety and practical problem‑solving.
What we’re looking for
* A qualified mechanical engineer with strong practical skills
* Experience as a Senior Engineer, Lead Engineer or Supervisor
* Someone ready to step confidently into their first management role
* Strong organisational skills and the ability to prioritise
* A clear communicator who works well across teams
* A proactive, steady problem‑solver
What’s on offer
* Negotiable salary aligned to the scale of the site
* Enhanced overtime rates: 1.5x weekdays, 1.75x weekends
* Accommodation available
* A meaningful role in a respected aquaculture business
* A lifestyle opportunity in one of the most distinctive locations in the Highlands
This is a fantastic opportunity for an engineering professional who wants progression, ownership and a role they can genuinely grow into — without needing to come from a large, complex engineering environment.
