Who we are looking for
We are seeing both full-time and part-time Nursery Education Officers to join our centres on a permanent basis.
* Clapton Park: 6 Full Time and 1 Part Time (2.5 days, 18 hours per week) positions
* Ann Tayler: 1 Full Time and 1 Part Time (3 days, 21.6 hours per week) positions
Hackney Education provides services to support the education of children, young people and adults in our inner London borough. We focus on supporting less advantaged families and aim to improve life chances for every child and learner.
The Role
As a Nursery Education Officer, you’ll be a vital part of a team delivering engaging activities for children aged 0-5 (and older during school holidays). You’ll work under the guidance of a Room Leader, Senior, or Teacher to devise and implement planned activity programs in line with the Early Years curriculum.
Key Responsibilities
* Curriculum Delivery: Take responsibility for agreed learning activities and support and extend children's learning, encouraging development, independence, initiative, and problem-solving.
* Child Welfare & Support: Maintain respectful, warm, and responsive interactions with children. Support children with Special Educational Needs (SEN), including initiating and implementing EHCPs and IEPs in liaison with the SENCO. Promote and safeguard the welfare of all children.
* Family Partnership: Build strong relationships with parents/carers, plan in partnership with them, oversee settling-in and initial home visits (with a colleague).
* Essential Care & Duties: Assist with dressing, meals, mobility, independence, toileting; attend to sick or injured children and apply First Aid as necessary.
Requirements include an NVQ3 qualification in childcare learning & development or equivalent, and the ability to work flexible hours as the centres operate a shift system.
