We are seeking a motivated and experienced Social Work Team Manager to lead a team of six social workers within Children and Young People’s Services in a London local authority. This is a permanent, full-time role, offering the opportunity to make a real difference to children and families while driving high-quality, integrated social care services across the borough.
Overview
As Team Manager, you will be responsible for the day-to-day management, supervision, and professional development of your social work team. You will ensure services are delivered safely, efficiently, and to the highest standards, while maintaining statutory compliance and promoting equality and best practice across all aspects of service delivery.
Responsibilities:
* Lead, manage, and support social workers and multi-disciplinary staff in the children and family service area.
* Allocate and monitor workloads, ensuring priority cases are addressed and unallocated work is safely managed.
* Chair statutory reviews, strategy meetings, and child protection conferences.
* Manage delegated budgets, monitor performance, and implement solutions to address variances.
* Work closely with partner agencies and multi-disciplinary teams to deliver integrated services for children and families.
* Contribute to service planning, quality assurance, and continuous improvement initiatives.
* Support recruitment, induction, and ongoing professional development, fostering a motivated, high-performing team.
Working Arrangements:
* Hybrid working with flexible work-from-home arrangements, One week per month you will be required to be in the office for five consecutive days to support team planning and coordination.
About you:
* Qualified Social Worker with Social Work England registration.
* Essential experience managing a team of social workers within the child and family services area.
* Strong knowledge of children’s social care legislation, policies, and best practice.
* Confident leader with excellent organisational, communication, and IT skills.
