Lead hydraulic modelling that protects communities
Tetra Tech’s Water Consultancy is seeking a Senior Wastewater Hydraulic Modeller to join our growing Water Consultancy and deliver hydraulic modelling and catchment strategies across AMP8 and AMP9 programmes. You will develop and quality‑assure hydraulic solutions from feasibility through to outline and detailed design, lead small project teams and provide technical direction on urban drainage, DWMPs, WINEP and catchment investment planning. Locations include London, Leeds, Newcastle, Sheffield, Derby, Bristol, Manchester and Warrington; hybrid working is standard.
Your Impact In This Position
You will immediately strengthen modelling assurance and solution delivery for high‑profile wastewater programmes. In the medium term you will lead multidisciplinary teams, improve modelling workflows and influence investment decisions that reduce pollution and flood risk. Longer term you can progress to technical lead or programme roles, shaping standards and digital capability across national frameworks.
Core Capabilities
* Hydraulic modelling leadership – Proven expertise building, calibrating and interpreting InfoWorks ICM models to derive robust catchment strategies.
* Solution development & design input – Ability to translate model outputs into outline and detailed designs, options appraisal and clear implementation plans.
* Quality, governance & standards – Track record of producing compliant, auditable modelling reports and maintaining governance across project portfolios.
* Team leadership & client engagement – Experience leading technical teams, mentoring modellers and presenting complex findings to clients and stakeholders.
* Digital tools & data fluency – Advanced Excel and Power BI skills; familiarity with GIS, Python, FME or Optimatics is advantageous.
Skills, Qualifications and Experience
Expected: degree in a relevant technical field; demonstrable InfoWorks ICM experience. Desirable: postgraduate qualification, chartership or working towards it and professional affiliation (CIWEM, ICE, IWater).
Work patterns & locations
Hybrid working with regional office presence and regular site or client visits as required. Flexible arrangements supported to balance collaboration and focused modelling work.
