We are partnering with a successful and established accountancy firm that is expanding its private client tax team due to continued growth and investment in this area. This firm of accountants is thriving and maintains high standards of work for their private client base. They are seeking a new Private Client Tax Manager to work with their Private Client Tax Partner to further develop this area.
Your new role
As Private Client Tax Manager, your role will be to advance the private client tax business, working closely with the Private Client Tax Partner on all aspects of personal and private client tax advisory and compliance work. This is a newly created position aimed at collaborating with the partner to shape this part of the business. Your tasks will include:
1. Overseeing a portfolio of private client tax returns, including high-net-worth individuals, families, entrepreneurs, trusts, and estates.
2. Building and maintaining strong client relationships, acting as the primary contact for all tax-related inquiries.
3. Leading regular client meetings (initially with the tax partner) to review tax positions and provide strategic guidance.
4. Providing comprehensive tax planning and advisory services, covering inheritance tax, capital gains tax, and income tax.
5. Identifying tax-saving opportunities and developing strategies to optimise clients' tax positions.
6. Advising clients on the implications of new tax legislation, ensuring compliance with current regulations.
7. Reviewing personal tax returns (including some trusts and estates) and related documentation, ensuring all filings are accurate and submitted on time, and liaising with HMRC on clients' behalf.
8. Supervising and mentoring junior tax staff, offering guidance and support for their professional development.
9. Reviewing work prepared by junior staff to ensure accuracy and compliance.
10. Participating in business development and networking activities as required.
What you'll need to succeed
To succeed in this role, you should have at least 3 years of experience in private client tax, preferably within a professional services firm, with a proven track record of managing a portfolio of high-net-worth clients. You should have in-depth knowledge of UK tax legislation and compliance requirements, strong communication skills, and the ability to manage multiple clients. Additionally, you should possess strong analytical and problem-solving skills, experience in advisory project work, a strong work ethic, ambition, and a client-focused approach.
