Overview
Artis Finance and Accountancy are seeking an experienced and detail-driven Payroll Manager to take full ownership of the end-to-end payroll process for a manufacturing business based in Newport. This is a critical role, working closely with a Payroll Coordinator to ensure the accurate and timely processing of monthly payroll, managing everything from gross to net calculations, pension contributions, and HMRC compliance.
Responsibilities
* Own end-to-end payroll processing for the business, including monthly payroll, gross-to-net calculations, pension contributions, and HMRC compliance, in collaboration with the Payroll Coordinator.
* Manage all statutory deductions (tax, NI, student loans, and AOE) and oversee processes for starters, leavers, and employee record changes.
* Lead auto-enrolment pensions, liaise with pension providers, and maintain accurate compliance records.
* Take the lead on P11D and PSA reporting, benefit administration, and ensure expenses are processed in line with policy.
* Apply strong knowledge of payroll-related accounting, including payroll journals, reconciliations, and month-end close.
* Interact with stakeholders across HR and Finance, respond to queries, and provide expert payroll guidance.
* Desirable: prior experience using Civica People Hub and/or Workday.
* Requirements: 3-5 years in a similar role with up-to-date knowledge of UK payroll legislation and excellent attention to detail. A CIPP qualification is advantageous but not essential.

* Strong Excel skills and solid grounding in payroll accounting.
* Up-to-date knowledge of UK payroll legislation.
