Role Overview
We are seeking an enthusiastic and reliable Assistant Sports Coach to support our Head Coaches in delivering our multi-sports after school club programme at Waverley Junior Academy. This programme is aimed at primary school children and covers a wide variety of sports, including:
Athletics, Archery, Badminton, Basketball, Cricket, Dodgeball, Football, Handball, Hockey, Netball, Tennis, and more.
As an Assistant Coach, you will help run fun, engaging, and inclusive sessions while ensuring a safe environment for all participants.
Key Responsibilities
* Support Head Coaches with the delivery of multi-sport sessions.
* Help set up and pack away equipment before and after sessions.
* Actively engage and supervise children, encouraging participation and good sportsmanship.
* Assist in delivering age-appropriate drills, activities, and games.
* Promote enjoyment, teamwork, and fair play in every session.
* Maintain a safe environment by following safeguarding, health, and safety procedures.
* Provide encouragement and support to all children, regardless of ability.
Requirements
* A passion for sport, fitness, and working with children.
* Previous experience working with or supporting children (desirable, but not essential).
* A positive, enthusiastic, and reliable attitude.
* Good communication and teamwork skills.
* Willingness to learn from and support experienced Head Coaches.
* Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
Desirable (but not essential)
* Sports coaching qualifications (e.g., Level 1 or 2 in any sport).
* First Aid and Safeguarding certificates.
* Experience volunteering or coaching in a school, club, or community sports setting.
Hours & Pay
* Part-time, term-time only (after-school club hours).
* Hours: 15:00pm - 17:00 (expected to arrive 15 minutes before for briefing.)
* Pay: £12.50 per hour.
