The Industry Solutions Engineering (ISE) team is a global engineering organization that works directly with customers looking to leverage the latest technologies to address their toughest challenges.
We work closely with our customers’ engineers to jointly develop code for cloud-based solutions that can accelerate their organization. We work in collaboration with Microsoft product teams, partners, and open-source communities to empower our customers to do more with the cloud. We develop solutions side-by-side with our customers through collaborative innovation to solve their challenges. This work involves the development of broadly applicable, high-impact solution patterns and open-source software assets that contribute to the Microsoft platform.
We are hiring a Software Engineering Manager with deep experience and expertise in designing and delivering solutions using modern software engineering practices and cloud technologies. You will work closely with a technical program manager and data scientist to co-lead a cross-functional team to work side-by-side with high-impact and strategic customers and their engineers to build innovative solutions.

Qualifications
Required/Minimum Qualifications (RQs/MQs)
1. Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, or related technical discipline AND technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or PythonOR equivalent experience
2. Significant years of experience of coding/designing experience in distributed systems.
Additional or Preferred Qualifications (PQs)
3. Bachelor's Degree in Computer ScienceOR related technical fieldOR Master's Degree in Computer Science or related technical fieldOR equivalent experience.
4. People management experience.
5. Enjoy travel and are comfortable with travel up to 25%.

Responsibilities
6. Guides partnership with appropriate stakeholders (e.g., project manager, technical lead) to determine user requirements within and across teams.
7. Guides teams and leads identification of dependencies and the development of design documents for a product, application, service, or platform.
8. Optimizes, debugs, refactors, and reuses code to improve performance and maintainability, effectiveness, and return on investment (ROI).
9. Guides team to drive multiple group's project plans, release plans, and work items in coordination with appropriate stakeholders (e.g., project managers).
10. Guides team and acts as an expert for Designated Responsible Individual (DRI) and monitors other engineers across product lines, working on call to monitor system/product/service for degradation, downtime, or interruptions.
11. Leads product development and scaling to customer requirements and applies best practices for meeting scaling needs and performance expectations and holds accountability for products that do not meet expectations.
