Primary Purpose of the Role:
Thales AWS (Above Water Systems) has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Project Controller at Crawley.
The primary purpose of this role is to provide project planning, monitoring, and control expertise to the project. Working directly with the Project Manager (PM) and Project Management Office (PMO) Manager, this role supports defining project goals and objectives, creating and maintaining cost and schedule baselines, monitoring progress, analyzing data, and advising the Project Manager on decision-making through relevant project data interpretation.
There will be infrequent travel to customer sites across the UK and occasional trips to the Netherlands.
This role requires SC Clearance. It would be advantageous if currently held; if not, the post holder is expected to undergo SC Clearance. Please visit the UKSV website for guidance.
Key Responsibilities and Tasks:
* Update project schedules with work package & control account managers, reflecting progress and estimates to complete (ETC).
* Identify schedule slippages & mitigate through re-planning actions.
* Provide performance data for decision-making and project execution improvement.
* Maintain the Project WBS and OBS for publication.
* Organize and facilitate internal progress meetings.
* Ensure consistent monthly Dashboard Pack reporting and participate in Project Management Reviews.
* Manage Cost and Schedule Change Control processes.
* Update and analyze project IBP data, ensuring accuracy and sign-off.
* Support Risk Management processes, including risk reviews and the Risk Register.
* Coordinate the development of Visual Display Boards for progress tracking.
* Implement planning policies and governance for project control standards.
Must Have Skills:
* Experience with scheduling tools like Oracle Primavera and Microsoft Project.
* Understanding of Earned Value Management principles and implementation.
Experience:
* At least 10 years of proven experience in planning, scheduling, data analysis, and cost control in complex engineering or manufacturing environments. Experience with high-level & detailed scheduling, reporting, budgeting, and risk management is essential.
* Defense sector experience is advantageous.
Qualifications:
* HNC/HND in Engineering or Business Management is desirable, or proven successful experience in planning large projects.
