We have an excellent opportunity to join our Visitor Information Centre team.
Role summary
You will play a key role in delivering a high standard of customer service to both visitors and residents, providing accurate, engaging, and helpful information on local attractions, events, and services. The role also includes retail responsibilities, such as selling souvenirs and gifts using an EPOS system, and administering and booking guided group tours of the city.
Responsibilities
- Provide accurate, engaging, and helpful information on local attractions, events, and services.
- Deliver high standard of customer service to visitors and residents.
- Sell souvenirs and gifts using an EPOS system.
- Administer and book guided group tours of the city.
- Work collaboratively with tourism businesses across the Winchester District and with wider tourism team members.
- Contribute to supporting the local visitor economy in line with the district’s tourism strategy.
Qualifications
- Reliable, enthusiastic, and adaptable with a positive and flexible approach to work.
- Strong knowledge of Winchester and the surrounding area.
- Educated to GCSE level (or equivalent).
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
- Excellent communication skills, including a professional telephone manner.
- Strong commitment to customer service.
- Ability to speak a foreign language (desirable).
Working conditions
- Permanent / Part-time (4 days per week on a rota basis, including regular weekends, public holidays and occasional early evening shifts).
- Salary: £21,749.19 – £23,565.41 per annum (£26,824.00 – £29,064.00 FTE).
- Location: Winchester, Hampshire.
