Job summary
The Capital, Estates and Facilities Directorate are looking to appoint a self-motivated individual tojoin the Capital Planning and Development Department as Minor Works Manager.
You will be managing a team, delivering and procuring Minor Works projects which will include alterations and refurbishments across the Cambridge University Hospitals Estate in a manner that meets business needs and client objectives and improves the healthcare experience for our patients, staff and visitors. You will work with stakeholders both internal and external to the organisation and will ensure the successful delivery of each individual Minor Works project and programme of works, paying particular attention to the coordination of works with healthcare, research and commercial commitments.
With exceptional leadership and communication skills, you will be required to gain the confidence of stakeholders both inside and outside of the organisation. If you enjoy working in a friendly fast paced office environment making a difference to patient care and have previous experience of working in the building related industry along with experience of managing and supporting a team then we would welcome an application from you.
Main duties of the job
To take lead responsibility and accountability for the delivery of minor works projects within the Estates and Facilities Directorate.
To ensure all minor works project are delivered in a professional manner in accordance with agreed programmes and within budget.
To undertake the coordination of minor works projects within the existing facilities.

Qualifications
Essential
1. Honours degree level or equivalent in building, engineering or related speciality works ( building services design and installation, building surveying, quantity surveying, construction management)
2. MRICS status in building or quantity surveying or evidence of specific job related CPD in specialised construction
3. Post graduate certificate in management
Desirable
4. Record of continuous development over a broad range of issues such as legislation, health and safety, management policies, sustainability, contract / project management
5. Technical Mechanical design qualification
6. Post Graduate Diploma in Management or equivalent
Experience
Essential
7. Substantial post qualification experience of working in a building related industry, including working in a supervisory position
8. Significant experience of NHS capital and construction project management in a large complex acute hospital / organisation
9. Management of external teams and contractors
10. Successfully managing a number of both in-house and out-sourced functions within an Estates or Facilities function
11. Significant experience of managing projects through full project lifecycle
12. Significant experience of feasibility studies and appraisal of investment
13. Working as part of a multidisciplinary team, involving Clinicians
14. Experience of chairing clinical stakeholder meeting to aid design development and execution
15. Track record of ability to deliver projects against targets and within set timescales
16. Budgetary and financial management experience
17. Experience of managing and supporting a team of professional staff
