About the Role
At Bricklehurst School, we believe education should prepare young people for life — not just exams. We are looking for a passionate and innovative Careers & Enterprise Teacher to deliver an exciting, real-world curriculum that helps students develop practical skills, confidence and clear pathways into employment, training or further education.
This is a unique opportunity to inspire young people with SEMH needs by connecting classroom learning to real-life experiences and future ambitions. As a Careers & Enterprise Teacher, you will deliver engaging vocational and enterprise-based learning, helping students build essential life skills and understand the world of work.
You’ll create opportunities for pupils to explore careers, develop independence and gain hands-on experience that prepares them for life beyond school.
What You’ll Be Doing
1. Deliver engaging careers, enterprise and vocational lessons tailored to SEMH needs
2. Inspire students to develop practical skills, confidence and independence
3. Use creative and therapeutic approaches to engage and motivate learners
4. Lead hands-on enterprise projects (e.g. café, plant nursery, small business initiatives)
5. Teach key life skills including financial literacy, teamwork and problem-solving
6. Build links with employers, colleges and training providers to support future pathways
7. Support students in accessing work experience and post-16 opportunities, including EHCP contributions
8. Work collaboratively with staff and partners to promote a culture of ambition, aspiration and achievement
Who We’re Looking For
You are a forward-thinking leader who believes in preparing young people for real life, not just exams.
You will have:
9. QTS or equivalent (Cert Ed accepted)
10. Experience delivering vocational qualifications in SEMH or specialist settings
11. Strong knowledge of Gatsby Benchmarks, vocational pathways (BTEC, NVQ, Functional Skills)
12. Experience developing enterprise projects or business initiatives
13. A deep understanding of trauma-informed practice and behaviour support
14. The ability to build strong partnerships with employers and external organisations
15. A passion for helping young people achieve meaningful, sustainable futures
About the School
Bricklehurst Manor School is a brand-new, co-educational SEMH school located in Wadhurst, East Sussex, for pupils aged 11–16. The school will cater for up to 60 pupils with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs and associated additional needs.
This is a unique opportunity to join the school at its inception, helping to shape the culture, ethos, and learning environment.
