Due to a forting maternity leave, my client, a global shipping business is looking to recruit a Tax Accountant to join the team on a 12-18m FTC basis. Reporting into the Senior European Tax Manager the role will epass the following:
Job Purpose To prepare or assist in the UK corporate tax and VATpliance cycle for severalpanies, including group reporting, statutory accounts, corporate taxputations and VAT returns. Primary Job Responsibilities and Measurement Undertake or assist in the preparation of several UK based corporate tax returns and associated matters, including but not limited to group payments, group relief matrix, claims and elections.
1. Prepare and/or assist the tax calculations to be included in the group reporting packs on a semi-annual basis for UKpanies.
2. Assist the Senior European Tax Manager in dealing with matters as they arise regarding group reporting Packs throughout the year covering UK entities.
3. Prepare and assist in the preparation of monthly UK and quarterly overseas VAT returns including submission through new making tax digital software package.
4. Assist in maintaining a good working relationship with the UK tax authorities through written and verbal correspondence and at the annual CRM meeting.
5. Prepare or assist in the preparation of tax information for the production of UK statutory accounts and submit to Finance Team, after review by Senior European Tax Manager, for incorporation into the statutory accounts. Review statutory accounts for consistency and accuracy prior to sign off.
6. Take responsibility for ensuring that high standards of filing and document retention are maintained by the RCO Tax Department.
7. Assist on other tax related matters that arise, including tax advisory projects for including PAYE Settlement Agreement (PSA), Senior Accounting Officer (SAO), Corporate Criminal Offence (CCO), European Taxernance, transfer pricing, withholding tax, liquidations, foreign exchange and tax policies.
8. Assist with PAYE and other employment tax queries that may arise from the HR department.
9. To keep up to date with latest legislative developments.
Scope of Role
10. Preparation or assistance in a selection of UK tax returns, instalment payments, joint amended returns, tax group relief and other aspects of UK taxpliance for the group
11. Preparation or assistance of corporation tax and deferred tax calculations and related tax notes for inclusion in the statutory accounts of UKpanies. Review of the draft statutory accounts for accuracy and consistency
12. Assistance with the tax accounting and reporting performed by the financial controllers of our UKpanies including group reporting on quarterly/half yearly/yearly basis
13. Preparation of monthly UK VAT returns
14. Preparation of quarterly European VAT returns
15. Involvement in audit, year-end and statutory accounts tax processes and procedures
16. Involvement in tax forecasting processes and procedures and reviewing tax forecasts prepared bypanies/branches
17. Assistance with European Taxernance process
18. Assistance with HMRC enquiries
19. Maintenance of accurate and detailed tax records and files.
20. Provide tax input, as and when required, into key accounting projects such as financial reporting under IFRS and accounting system changes
21. Ad-hoc projects

Skills, Qualifications and Expertise
23. Be part-qualified or QBE with experience of working in a tax and/or accounts-based role or a person with strong accounting and tax experience and knowledge acquired in the profession or industry
