The Podiatric Medicine service includes Foot Health and Footwear services. The opportunity has arisen for a band 5 Podiatrist to become an integral part of a highly motivated and enthusiastic team within Homerton Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust.
Band 5 Podiatrist: The Podiatric Medicine service provides specialist care to a diverse group of patients with foot and lower limb problems within both a primary and secondary care setting. The experienced team of Podiatrists assess, diagnose and manage deformity or pathology of the foot, including specialised clinics in Footwear, Biomechanics, Diabetes, Rheumatology, Dermatology, Paediatrics, nail surgery, and Minor and Complex Foot and Ankle Surgery by our Podiatric Surgeons.
Main duties of the job
We are looking for motivated individuals with good interpersonal skills who enjoy working with the public and a range of clinical and non‑clinical colleagues. The applicant should have a flexible approach to work and be keen to progress their clinical skills. This role would suit a new graduate.
Person Specification
* HCPC Registered
* Diploma/Degree in Podiatric Medicine
* Certificate in local anaesthesia
Skills/Abilities
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills
* Ability to work under pressure
* Able to use negotiation skills when dealing with challenging patients
* Ability to evaluate and analyse patients concerns and needs and propose effective solutions
Experience
* Experience of working with a wide range of patient and disease/pathology types including the at‑risk and high‑risk foot
* Experience in nail surgery
* Experience in biomechanics
* Experience of working in client focused environment
Knowledge
* Knowledge of diabetes and associated lower limb complications
* Understanding of Primary and Community Healthcare Services
* Understanding of Clinical Governance – theory and practice
