Reporting directly to the Technology Director, you will play a pivotal role in the senior technology leadership team. This role combines ownership of our infrastructure and security platforms, ensuring day-to-day resilience, operational reliability, and enforcement of standards, with the opportunity to help shape long-term strategy, drive continuous improvement, and enable future growth.
As a senior technology leader, you will drive the evolution of secure, scalable services, play a critical role in supporting M&A activity, and enable our people to work seamlessly and securely. Main Responsibilities:
Strategy, Architecture & Roadmap
19. Contribute to and execute the technology strategy in partnership with the Technology Director and target architecture; accountable for execution and adherence to standards across on-prem, Azure, identity, endpoint, data, application, network and edge.
20. Define HLD/LLD for changes; manage and set non-functional requirements (availability, performance, security, DR).
21. Drive Zero Trust principles, least privilege, and modern identity requirements.
Operations & Reliability
22. Ensure reliable, secure BAU operation of the entire technology estate, including sites/offices, Azure and on-prem platforms.
23. Meet SLOs/SLAs for availability, performance, capacity, and incident response.
24. Accountable for vulnerability & patch management, backup/restore, and disaster recovery, meeting defined RTO/RPO and evidenced by regular recovery tests.
Security Governance & Controls
25. Own the ISMS-aligned control set (e.g., ISO 27001, Cyber Essentials Plus) including policies, standards, and technical controls.
26. Oversee threat detection & response with the SOC (e.g., Defender/Sentinel), incident playbooks, and tabletop exercises.
27. Ensure audit readiness and evidence for internal/external audits and ITGCs; manage risk register and corrective actions.
28. Embed secure-by-design in change delivery (design reviews, threat modelling, security gates).
Change, Projects & M&A
29. Partner with the Head of Technical Projects on large change/M&A, supply and coordinate technical personnel, act as infra/security design authority, set NFRs and security controls, and approve service acceptance into BAU.
30. Serve as Technical Change Authority for infrastructure & security, maintaining the release/change calendar and in liaison with the Technical Director, approve/reject changes based on risk, impact, and readiness; enforce standards, testing evidence, capacity planning, DR alignment, monitoring, and back-out plans before go-live
People, Partners & Budget
31. Lead and develop the infrastructure/security team and manage external partners (e.g., SOC, MSPs, vendors).
32. Manage budgets and licensing, negotiate contracts, and optimise cost/performance.
Stakeholder Management & Communication
33. Provide clear risk/incident/compliance reporting to the Director and senior leadership.
34. Translate technical risk into business impact and actionable decisions.
Essential Skills and Experience:
Technical Expertise (Essential):
35. Prior senior IT leadership (Manager/Head of) running operational platforms and delivering enterprise-wide transformation.
36. A track record across full lifecycle platform/application change: architecture, integration, testing, upgrades and cutovers.
37. Experience creating and landing technology strategy with buy-in up to C-suite/board
38. Strong commercial acumen, contract/vendor management and knowledge of IT controls, compliance and governance.
39. Proven background in infrastructure and IT operations.
40. Strong Microsoft Azure skills (IaaS, PaaS, identity, and hybrid environments).
41. Understanding of application development practices.
42. Experience with data migration, systems & Cloud consolidation.
43. Proven ownership of security operations & governance (SIEM/XDR, incident response, vulnerability mgmt.) and producing audit evidence.
44. Success developing teams and maturing processes, tools and ways of working.
Desirable Skills and Experience:
45. Experience in the legal sector or other regulated industries.
46. Knowledge of Proclaim or equivalent case management systems.
47. Infrastructure as Code & automation: PowerShell, Bicep/Terraform, GitHub/Azure DevOps pipelines .
48. Data protection & governance: Microsoft Purview (DLP, retention, legal hold/eDiscovery).
49. Familiarity with ISO 27001
