About Our Client
This business is one where you will be part of a larger, well-established team. You are expected to perform all bookkeeping tasks with minimal supervision; some training and support will be provided for more complex month-end tasks. The office is located just outside central Reading with easy access via public transport and on-site parking. The role involves working in the office for 3 days a week and remotely for 2 days. You will report to the Finance Manager, who has extensive experience and will support onboarding and queries.
Job Description
As an Accounts Assistant, your responsibilities will include:
* Managing accounts payable ledger using SAGE Accounts
* Processing weekly BACS payments for suppliers
* Preparing, reviewing, and submitting VAT returns to HMRC
* Handling TAX, NI, and VAT payments
* Managing accounts receivable ledger using SAGE 200 Accounts
* Monitoring aged debtors and credit control, including daily payment allocations
* Sending monthly statements and coordinating with management on overdue debts
* Performing month-end bank reconciliations and bookkeeping
* Managing the company's invoice discounting facility, including uploads and reconciliation
* Transferring funds between accounts
* Overseeing company credit cards and reconciling statements
* Posting journal entries, accruals, and prepayments
* Uploading new direct debit mandates and processing collections
* Handling petty cash and bank errands

The ideal candidate will have previous experience in a similar role and be able to perform the listed tasks with minimal supervision.
