Job Description
Currently we have an excellent opportunity for a Consultant Psychiatrist to join a male acute inpatient service within a well‑resourced hospital environment. This role offers the opportunity to work with patients experiencing acute mental health crises, providing rapid assessment, stabilisation, and recovery‑focused interventions.
Salary: £172,000
Position: Consultant Psychiatrist – Adult Acute
Hours: Full Time – 1 day WFH
Setting: 12‑bed male acute inpatient ward
Location: Stockport
Responsibilities
* Lead clinical care for patients in an acute inpatient setting
* Act as Responsible Clinician under the Mental Health Act
* Conduct ward rounds and multidisciplinary reviews
* Develop and oversee acute treatment plans
* Support safe admissions and discharge planning
* Provide risk assessments and crisis management
* Contribute to service development and governance
Qualifications
* GMC registration with licence to practise
* Ideally CCT – may consider equivalent consultant experience
* Section 12 approval and Approved Clinician status preferred
* Experience in inpatient or complex mental health settings
