Job Overview
We are delighted to invite applications for the Trainee Clinical Endoscopist to join our established team of advanced practitioners. You should be educated or working towards a Masters level and have extensive experience in endoscopy. You must demonstrate technical and non‑technical skills in managing lists safely, making decisions under pressure and coordinating care. You will be a key member of the team providing diagnostic and therapeutic upper and lower endoscopies across two purpose‑built units, with service sites at CGH, GRH, Stroud and Cirencester. The role requires travel to all sites.
Main Duties
* Train and perform upper and lower gastrointestinal endoscopy, identifying, diagnosing and treating patients.
* Provide and manage the Clinical Endoscopist (CE) service in conjunction with other members of the MDT.
* Develop, manage and deliver a high‑quality general and specialist endoscopy service.
* Attend all required training programmes (HEE 18‑24 months, non‑medical prescribing course) and progress to Band 8a.
Once Accredited – Expected Responsibilities
* Practice autonomously and be self‑directed.
* Assess individuals using a range of methods, including examination and diagnostic tests.
* Apply evidence‑based therapeutic interventions, including prescribing medication and monitoring outcomes.
* Participate in peer review of practice.
* Define the boundaries of practice appropriately.
* Provide professional leadership and ensure a high‑quality patient‑centred service.
* Promote and implement the GHNHSFT NMC strategy and core standards.

Person Specification
Qualifications
Essential: NMC Adult Registered Nurse or HCPC Registered.
Desirable: Evidence of teaching and assessing, appropriate qualification.
Experience
Essential: Strong leadership for patient safety, evidence of change management, substantial experience as a Band 6/7 in a clinical setting or specialist role.
Desirable: Recognised management course or equivalent, extensive experience in endoscopy.
Knowledge / Skills
Essential: Enhanced IT skills, understanding and implementation of research‑based practice, excellent communication, interpersonal, organisational and planning skills.
Desirable: Clinic / patient management in the GI setting.
