About the role
Balfour Beatty is seeking a motivated Health, Safety, and Wellbeing Advisor to join our Power Transmission and Distribution Team in Ipswich.
Working on the Bramford to Twinstead Reinforcement (BTNO) Project, you will be responsible for driving health, safety, and wellbeing performance, providing effective advice to achieve Zero Harm objectives.
Project information: Balfour Beatty will replace the existing high-voltage electricity network between Bramford Substation in Suffolk and Twinstead Tee in Essex with a new 400 kilovolt overhead line spanning 18 kilometers. Additionally, 11 kilometers of underground cable will be delivered through the Dedham Vale Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and Stour Valley.
What you'll be doing
* Understand and support the delivery of the UK HSW Strategy.
* Contribute to the implementation and review of the BU Zero Harm Action Plan and Sustainability Action Plan at business and project levels.
* Support the delivery of HSW Key Performance Indicators at project and business levels.
* Assist work-winning teams with quality and innovative HSW responses for bids, proposals, and PQQs.
* Provide expert support to investigate accidents, incidents, and near misses according to Balfour Beatty standards.
* Develop and review local risk-based Service Level Agreements with operational management, with quarterly reviews.
* Conduct regular site inspections based on the project risk matrix.
* Produce formal reports on planned and unplanned HSW inspections using the Project Portal, reviewing performance against UK HSW regulations and company standards.
* Regularly check health and safety risk management practices to ensure risks and opportunities are identified and addressed.
Who we're looking for
The following qualities and experience are essential:
* Relevant H&S Diploma, NVQ, Degree, or equivalent (level 6). Candidates working towards these qualifications with relevant on-site experience may be considered.
* Working towards Chartered Membership of IOSH.
* Ability to influence and promote a positive HS&E culture.
* Competence in incident investigation.
* Strong understanding of UK health and safety regulations.
* Ability to prepare formal reports on HS&E topics.
* Experience in project planning and management.
* Commitment to continual learning and applying expertise to add value.
* Broad experience in complex construction or civils projects, or similar sectors.
* Ability to engage effectively at all levels.
