We’re looking for a caring, proactive and enthusiastic Healthcare Assistant to join our busy Inpatient Ward team. This is a full-time permanent position, working 37.5 hours per week on a rotating shift pattern, including long days (07:00–19:30) and nights (19:00–07:30).
This is an excellent opportunity to play a vital part in supporting our nursing and clinical teams, ensuring every patient receives safe, high-quality and compassionate care during their stay.
What you'll be doing
As a Healthcare Assistant, you’ll provide hands-on support to patients and help the ward run smoothly by:
* Greeting patients and helping them feel comfortable, explaining ward procedures and facilities.
* Assisting patients with activities of daily living, including dressing, mobility and preparing for theatre.
* Taking and recording vital signs such as blood pressure, pulse, temperature and weight.
* Supporting infection control by following hygiene and cleanliness procedures.
* Helping patients with investigations, such as ECGs and urine tests (training provided if required).
* Maintaining accurate patient records and ensuring confidentiality.
* Supporting the clinical team by preparing equipment, assisting with moving and handling, and ensuring the ward is well-stocked and organised.
* Playing an important role in patient safety by reporting any incidents or risks promptly.
What we’ll look for in you
We’re looking for someone who is:
* Experienced in caring for others – either in a professional care setting or through personal experience (full training will be given).
* A clear and confident communicator, able to reassure patients and follow instructions from clinical staff.
* Professional, with a positive and flexible attitude to working in a busy ward environment.
* Committed to high standards of patient care and teamwork.
* Flexible and willing to work a rotating shift pattern, including long days and nights.
Desirable (but not essential): Experience in a healthcare environment, NVQ in Health & Social Care, or skills such as wound dressing or phlebotomy.

* A salary of £23,809.50 per annum
