CBRN RN Constable – Police Officer – On site – Counter Terrorism Policing WM
The NCBRNC brings together the emergency services to protect and prepare the UK against the chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear (CBRN) threat. The Command is a Counter Terrorism Police national capability, hosted by West Midlands Police. You will be located at the College of Policing, Ryton-on-Dunsmore, working Monday-Thursday or Tuesday-Friday, 10-hour shifts.
A two-year secondment opportunity is now available for placement with our Central Team, supporting the Home Office’s Homeland Security Group and working within several Radiological & Nuclear Change Programmes.
The role
Working as part of a dedicated RN team, you’ll support the planning and integration of radiation and nuclear detection equipment into the protective security layer of policing for major public events. Additionally, you will support responses to radioactive or nuclear sources that are out of regulatory control, whether through loss or criminal intent, further supporting the Protect, Prepare and Pursue elements of the National Contest Strategy.
You’ll have the opportunity to enhance your profile through ongoing learning and technological advances, working closely with key partners across the CBRN landscape.
Successful applicants will be expected to travel within the UK as required by capability needs. An allowance will be provided for all business travel, sustenance, and overnight accommodation.
Responsibilities
* Operationally deploy with radiological and nuclear detection equipment within the Protect and Pursue elements of the National Contest Strategy across the UK.
* Work with host Forces to deploy radiological and nuclear detection architecture at major public events.
* Support the development of bespoke deployment plans for operational activities.
* Volunteer for the NCBRNC Duty Officer / RNID On-Call cadre. This weekly 24/7 on-call role is rotated among staff to provide support at the relevant rank.
