About the School
Chiseldon Primary & Nursery School is a one-form entry primary school with a PAN of 30 pupils per class. Each class from Nursery to Year 6 has a dedicated class teacher, and the school is supported by 6 teaching assistants. Located in a picturesque village, the school welcomes pupils from across Swindon, offering a warm and inclusive environment for all.
The Role
We are seeking an exceptional Deputy Headteacher/SENCo to join our dedicated team. In this pivotal role, you will work closely with the Headteacher to shape the strategic direction of the school, formulate policies, manage staff and resources, and monitor progress towards our ambitious goals. As part of your responsibilities, you will have a teaching commitment mainly in the afternoons and will be responsible for the teaching of swimming.
Key Responsibilities:
•Deputise for the Headteacher in their absence, as directed by the governing board
•Fulfil the professional responsibilities of a Headteacher, as outlined in the School Teachers' Pay and Conditions Document (STPCD)
•Sit on the governing board as an associate member and attend all meetings, including committee-level meetings
•Ensure compliance with the SEND Code of Practice and lead on special educational needs provision
•Implement a coaching-based performance management system to support the professional development of all staff
•Promote a clear work-life balance for the school community
Qualities and Experience:
•Demonstrate strong leadership skills and the ability to communicate the school's vision compellingly
•Build positive relationships with all members of the school community
•Stay informed about developments in education and understand local, national, and global education systems
•Work with political and financial astuteness, translating policy into the school's context
•Seek training and continuing professional development to meet personal needs
•Act as the deputy designated safeguarding lead for the school
