Greenway and Trowbridge Primary Schools are situated in the East of Cardiff and are part of The Oaks Federation. The role will be based at Greenway Primary School which hosts a Flying Start service on site and has extensive grounds to support outdoor learning opportunities. Greenway works with a broad range of partners to enhance the provision for the community.
Greenway’s new Specialist Resource Bases (SRB) will support children from across Cardiff with complex needs, including social communication difficulties. We will have two resource bases within the main school building and the successful candidates will have the opportunity to assist in setting up the bases and launch the new classes. We want the new SRB provision to be an extension of our, already strong, approach to inclusion and to feel very much part of our school family.
Children in our resource base will receive a specialist curriculum to support their individual needs and a sensory based approach focused on development rather than age. We are looking for someone with recent and relevant experience of working with pupils with Additional Learning Needs. We are seeking an energetic, caring and highly motivated teaching assistant who is committed to supporting the whole child. You will help support children’s learning in the SRBs as well as developing their social skills and helping and encouraging them to manage their emotions. You will be working as part of a supportive team. Good literacy and numeracy skills and a strong understanding of child development will be essential to the post. The successful candidate will be confident to cover for teachers for absences and PPA/leadership time. The role requires someone with empathy, who communicates well with families and who fully understands the role of parental engagement in children’s learning. The successful candidate will need to work confidently with a range of professionals and build strong relationships with a wide variety of partners.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone with the right knowledge and experience to join a friendly, caring and dedicated team
We are looking to appoint someone who:
• has recent and successful experience of working with ALN pupils
• has high expectations of learning and behaviour and inspires and motivates children
• communicates well with parents, carers and members of staff
• works well as part of a team and can manage additional adults
• is willing to contribute to school life outside of the classroom.
• is committed to their own and others’ professional learning
Greenway Primary can offer you:
• A child-centred approach, where every child is valued, supported and nurtured to achieve excellence
• Children who enjoy learning and are positive about school life
• An excellent and highly skilled staff who value high quality teamwork
• A commitment to your professional development and own learning
