This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a new service under Phoenix Adolescent Care, a well-established residential childcare company in the North West.
Phoenix House is a residential family centre, we provide evidence- based parenting assessments and support to courts and local authorities. Phoenix House provide specialist parenting support to meet the individual needs of the children and families whom are referred to us.
The role of a family intervention worker at Phoenix House consists of providing high levels of support, guidance and safety to families and children who are referred to our service. The role of a family intervention worker is to provide on hands support with our parenting programme, daily activities and workshops for the residents and children at Phoenix House. Your role will include completing daily observation and summary records for families. The families who have been referred to Phoenix House are likely to be at risk due to alcohol misuse, complex needs, learning needs, drug misuse, and mental health difficulties. It is essential that all applicants have an understanding of safeguarding. All applicants should have experience and/ or knowledge of how to respond effectively in crisis situations, how to manage and support complex situations and ensure the safety of the child is always paramount
You will support with the families individual placement plan, and support and work with them for the duration of their assessment period at Phoenix House. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a new service which sits under Phoenix Adolescent Care.
You will be provided with specific training opportunities relevant to the role, and specific to working with and support complex families. We are a committed organisation to working with our staff and supporting and developing individual needs of our staff members.
We are currently recruiting full time, and waking night members of staff.
It would be beneficial if the applicant has transferable experience and skills in the following:
v Mental Health
v Alcohol or substance misuse
v Domestic Abuse
v Intervention work with families and children
v Experience in the residential sector
v Experience of supervising family contact, and family time sessions
v Level 4 qualification, Working with Complex Families
Person Specification:
Resilient and motivated person
Understanding of Safeguarding, legislation and guidance
Understanding of the Residential Family Centre regulations and National Minimum Standards
Good communication skills, both verbal and written
Supportive and nurturing
Able to work under own initiative and as part of a team
Experience in a support role, working with children and families
Family intervention experience
Driving Licence
GCSE in Maths and English at Grade C or above
Level 4 Children, Young People and Families Practitioner, Diploma Level 3/4 in Children and Young People’s Workforce or equivalent
Any relevant or transferrable skills, such as First Aid trained
Knowledge of Child and Adult Protection and Safeguarding
Knowledge of Residential Family Centre Regulations and the National Minimum Standards

Duties and Responsibilities
Understand and adhere to Phoenix House policies and procedures
To report to the registered manager of Phoenix House
Demonstrate a working knowledge of The Residential Family Centres National Minimum Standards 2013 and The Residential Family Centre Regulations 2002 as amended.
To work alongside and in partnership with team members and other professionals (Social Workers, Police, Education, and Health) to help families reach targets and expectations as outlined in their care plans and other plans for permanence.
Keep up to date and accurate monitoring and records of the family’s progress plus any incidents.
Attend regular supervision seminars and staff meetings, actively pursue relevant qualifications and undertake training as required developing the post holders own skills.
Demonstrate a commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and families in line with appropriate legislation and company policies.
Contribute to and maintain a high level of recording and report writing, and contribute in meetings as required to assist in planning to meet the needs of children and their families.
Maintain a professional attitude and appropriate appearance at all times whilst on shift.
Undertake any other duties or responsibilities as required by the manager to assist the functioning of the residential family centre. This includes domestic tasks such as cooking and cleaning.
Such other duties as may be deemed appropriate from time to time.
