Active Partnerships is seeking a Sport Welfare Project Officer to enhance the national coordination of a crucial safeguarding and culture change initiative in sport. This fixed-term, national role involves practical support, insights, and collaboration.
About the role:
This people-focused position supports a major national programme aimed at improving safeguarding and welfare in grassroots sport. You will be part of a small team connecting and coordinating 63 Sport Welfare Officers nationwide, ensuring they have the necessary tools, support, and relationships to succeed.
Your responsibilities include gathering insights, supporting daily operations, developing inclusive resources, and being a reliable contact to foster cultural change in sport.

Roles and Responsibilities:
* Collaborate with the central team to deliver the Sport Welfare Officer Programme effectively.
* Build positive relationships with Sport Welfare Officers and stakeholders like Sport England, CPSU, and ACT, fostering trust and collaboration.
* Review evaluations, extract insights, and inform future activities.
* Create reports to help programme leads understand successes and areas for support.
* Coordinate activities such as meetings, events, and follow-ups.
* Assist with large-scale events and communications, ensuring content is inclusive and practical.
* Support the development of tools, templates, and guidance to improve safeguarding practices.
* Maintain good admin and communication to keep tasks on track.
* Occasional travel (once or twice a month) to regional and national events for support and learning.
Knowledge and Skills:
* Excellent interpersonal skills—rapport-building, listening, and sensitive communication.
* Strong organizational skills for managing time and tasks remotely.
* Openness to diverse perspectives and collaborative problem-solving.
* Clear written communication skills adaptable for different audiences.
* Ability to identify themes in feedback to inform decisions.
* Basic understanding of safeguarding, welfare, and wellbeing principles.
* Proficiency with digital tools like email, video conferencing, and shared documents.
* Self-motivated, proactive, and supportive in a remote environment.

Work Environment and Support
* Primarily home-based with regular online meetings.
* Travel approximately once or twice a month; overnight stays 3-4 times annually.
* Flexible working options may be available.
