Job Description
Fixed Term – 12 months (Maternity Cover)
We are seeking an enthusiastic Locum Consultant to join our Urological malignancy team. The post‑holder will provide oncological treatments (radiotherapy and systemic treatment) for patients with urological cancers. The successful candidate will work within the Chichester Urology MDT, where systemic treatments are delivered in Chichester and radiotherapy at Portsmouth. The role includes participation in clinical trials and a well‑supported multidisciplinary team.
Key Responsibilities
The appointee will join the Oncology Team as a Clinical Oncology Consultant and will be expected to participate in all facets of departmental activity, including clinical care, MDT discussion, research and leadership. The candidate may discuss application with Dr Freddie Bartlett, Clinical Director, or Dr Maja Uherek, Head of Radiotherapy.
Qualifications – Person Specification
* Essential
* Full GMC registration with a licence to practice
* Higher professional training in Clinical Oncology via CCT (within 6 months of appointment), CESR or European Community Rights
* Evidence of a clinical or research fellowship in oncology or a related field
* Demonstrable skills in the areas of special interest relevant to the job plan
* Knowledge and use of evidence‑based practice, effective team working and NHS governance
* Willingness to recruit to clinical trials, audit participation and research experience
* Effective teaching of SHOs and formal teaching qualification desirable
* Desirable
* MRCP/FRCP or equivalent
* BSc or MD
* Research experience and published research in a peer‑reviewed journal
* Formal management training or qualification
* Formal teaching qualification and training of registrars
