A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a Category Buyer to join an established procurement team and lead and deliver the full indoor & outdoor plant range for an established retailer based in Norfolk. Our client is the 7th largest Garden Centre group in the UK and representa new wave of specialist horticultural retailers. Theyarelooking to strengthen their procurement team by appointing an established category buyer for their Horticultural products. This is an office-based role that offers a flexible working arrangement and would suit an experienced buyer who will be responsible for sourcing and purchasing all categories of plants, shrubs & trees for an estate of garden centres and retail stores across the UK. Negotiating with suppliers, managing inventory levels, and ensuring procurement processes align with company standards. ?? Key responsibilities for this role : Driving and developing product strategy in terms of supply base, customer base, product range and key trends Ensuring budget and forecast plans are met or maximised Negotiating with suppliers to obtain best conditions for the business in terms of product prices and trading agreements Reviewing range for promotable products that will best match channel, brand and department image in terms of seasonality, objectives and stock turn Liaising with key managers in the business in order to allow stock and sales to flow through the business in the most profitable and efficient manner ?? Required experience for this Buyers role: Strong knowledge of plant varieties, quality standards, and seasonal trends Experience in sourcing and purchasing horticultural products Negotiation and supplier relationship management skills Knowledge of inventory management and procurement processes Strong market research and trend analysis skills Excellent written and verbal communication skills Ability to work independently and travel to meet suppliers Bachelor's degree in Horticulture, Agriculture, Supply Chain Management, or related field is preferred ??
